I am in pursuit of a visual solution which will best express the intangible realities
lurking behind the human form. My desire is to capture what it is about us as
human beings which makes us complicated and unique--namely our fragility.
Therefore in all my work, realistic depictions of the human figure are stretched
and dismantled in order to uncover what lay behind. In this way, my paintings
pay homage to Abstract Expressionists such as Willem de Kooning, Arshile Gorky
and Lee Krasner. Although ultimately my aim is to push this form of figurative
abstraction even further to include contemporary complexities.
